Meet the Fellows: Alex Barnes
We’re excited to welcome Alex to MDLF! Alex is the President of WF Meyers Co., Inc. and lives in Bloomington.
About Alex:
I am the President of the WF Meyers Company, a fifth-generation family-owned and managed manufacturing business that provides tooling to the stone industry. I never envisioned myself working in the business, and took a winding career path to get here, but I am enjoying the challenge and variety that comes across my desk every day. Before working in the family business, I spent three years teaching middle school in Florida and obtained my MBA.
Personally, I enjoy traveling, staying active, watching sports, and spending time on the water.
What's your vision for Indiana? How does this relate to your decision to join the program?
I would like to see the state of Indiana embrace change and new ways of doing things, rather than defaulting to the way we've always done things. I am passionate about problem-solving and continuous improvement and believe that there is usually a better way to do things. I would like to see the Hoosier work ethic paired with a fearless attitude regarding change and uncertainty - we will figure things out no matter what pops up.
