Mitch Daniels Leadership Foundation Honors Bill Oesterle with Daniels Prize
The Mitch Daniels Leadership Foundation will present Bill Oesterle with the Daniels Prize Award on Thursday, December 8, 2022 at the MDLF Annual Event, presented by Thompson Thrift. The purpose of the Daniels Prize Award is to recognize Hoosiers whose life’s work has “lifted the State to a new plane of thought, aspiration, expectation and action,” in the spirit of Mitch Daniels’ own leadership.
Foundation Chair, Claire Fiddian-Green, stated about his selection: “Bill has had a profoundly positive impact on the lives of countless people in Indiana. He is an innovator and deep thinker who consistently challenges Hoosiers to think bigger about how we can create positive changes in our state. He is also a bold and fearless advocate for policies and initiatives he believes will help Indiana continue to flourish. Bill exemplifies the MDLF principles of personal responsibility, individual liberty and the importance of private industry, and I am delighted that he was selected as the next Daniels Prize Award recipient.”
Bill Oesterle is currently the Executive Chairman and Co-Founder of MakeMyMove. He’s served in executive leadership positions at OurHealth, Angie’s List and CID Equity Partners and also managed the successful 2004 “Mitch Daniels for Governor” campaign. Bill is a Harvard Business School and Purdue University graduate and founder of the Orr Fellowship Program.
"Once every hundred years or so, a leader emerges with the qualities of Mitch. The only conceivable justification for winning his award is that I love Indiana almost as much as he does,” said Oesterle.
He joins Tim Solso, Retired Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Cummins, Inc., James Morris, Vice Chairman of Pacers Sports & Entertainment and Scott Dorsey, Managing Partner of High Alpha as recipients of the Daniels Prize.
MDLF also named its Outstanding Fellow from its first four classes who will be recognized at the Annual Event: Matt Whiteside (Indianapolis), Chris Moorman (Indianapolis), Amanda Schmitt (Evansville) and Cara Putman (West Lafayette).
